October 11th

Lorelei had me cracking up today! Yet again. She is truly hilarious and always entertaining.
Of course, I wait until I am about to go to bed to write this and I have forgotten all the funny things she said. I should update as the day goes by!
I pulled out my old Polly Pockets for Lorelei to play with while I did the dishes. She LOVED them! She sat and played quietly with them for an hour and didn’t want to stop.  Those will be our new quiet time play toys.
I went and played with Halee and Lorelei today. We sang songs and danced. They loved ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes’, ‘Ring around the Rosie’, ‘If you are Happy and you Know it’ and ‘Pop Goes the Weasel’. Those kids wear me out but sure do make me smile.
Tonight I was looking at pinterest and Lorelei saw a pin of an outdoor painting recipe. The conversation went like this:
Lorelei: Is that boy painting the ground?
Me: Yes, would you like that?
Lorelei: No, I would not.  I would like to eat that ice cream (points to a cupcake pin below)
Me: (laughing) Of course
Lorelei: He is painting the ground. That is a good idea.
Then she had me cracking as we were going to bed and I had to take a quick picture of her laughing:

October 9th

We had a fantastic day today! Started off at the Vandenberg Village Farmer’s Market. It was small but had everything I wanted. The weather was absolutely perfect. Lorelei picked out these small, purple tomatoes and strawberries. She loves tomatoes! Lorelei also got her face painted for free! She didn’t sit still very well, imagine that!

Next we went home for a nap. Lorelei wanted to nap in her stroller, okay by me. Once she woke up we went to McDonalds for ice cream and french fries and off we went to Surf Beach. We played in the sand and ran around the beach. We didn’t find anything cool except I finally got to try out the baby powder trick. You sprinkle baby powder over the sand covered legs (etc.) and wipe away…removes all the sand! It worked!!

October 8th

Another relaxing day at home. Well, I really shouldn’t say another. We don’t do that very often which makes a do-nothing day that much more enjoyable. Lorelei didn’t want to go anywhere. She played princesses and Mr. Potato Head. We played outside and had truck races. Meemaw couldn’t resist giving her a birthday present early. She got a Woody doll. She wanted it out of the box as quick as possible and then she had to get her Jessie doll so they could kiss! Then we acted out scenes from the movie. I’m always surprised at how much she remembers, I mean she watches the movie constantly but I’m still impressed. I guess I am her mother, and that is what mothers do!

October 7th

We went for a nice evening walk today. Lorelei wanted to stop and look at everything! We stared at the Bellez house (an old Victorian down the street) for awhile. Then I thought we would take a stop at the library and get Lorelei her first library card. But they close at 5 on Fridays ( I know, right?). So we will try that one another day.

We got to see some skateboarders and Lorelei wanted to stop and watch them for, oh, about two seconds. She tried to sit on a bench that was a little high and she said, “I can’t sit my booty.” I swear, the things she comes up with. We then decided to stop and get tacos for dinner at La Michiocana. We ended up walking for about an hour. I thought that would put her right to bed, but it is 8:40 and she is still up.

She has been loving the Backyardigans. She has learned all the songs and knows all their names, which are totally cute when she says them by the way! Uniqua, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha, and Austin.

October 7th

I am trying something new. I am using Windows Live Writer to write my blog posts offline! I have been severely neglecting my MoLoSmiles blog and, yes, we have still been smiling. But I have forgotten how much I enjoyed a nice cup of tea and some blogging peace to reflect on the day. I like having these daily reminders of what little things make me happy each day. Sometimes my memory isn’t so great and it is nice to have a little slice of a day. I need to get better about writing and not make everything seem so boring. I may try being more descriptive or I might continue my one or two-liners. I am not someone that likes to sit and write. I have been in the past. I think it is one of those things where practice makes perfect.

This is one of my favorite recent pictures of Lorelei. Her first movie theater experience! The Lion King (not in 3D, she is not a fan, funny story.) Look at the size of that fruit punch! Boy, I don’t think I’ll splurge on big sodas or big popcorns again. Seriously, what was I thinking? Lorelei did enjoy the movie and did fairly well. She kept talking to me and telling me what was about to happen (she has seen this movie, oh only dozens of times, before). She sat in her own chair, on my lap, and stood through parts but she did wonderful for her first movie.

August 26th

We are busy getting ready for our all girls camping trip this weekend! I am beyond excited, and yes, a little nervous. Two two year olds, a four month old, and four women. Should be a good time though.
I wanted to update the blog with a few things I am loving about Lorelei right now:
She is HILARIOUS. Always making us laugh.
She like to dress like characters from TV and movies. Speaking of which, she has been watching Toy Story non-stop lately, especially "the one they meet Jessie". She told me this morning that Jessie and Buzz Lightyear are married. To her married means dancing to Ring a' Round the Rosie.
She also constantly talks about her 'sister' who is lucky enough to have EVERYTHING according to Lorelei. Everything is "my sister has that, her does." or "my sister does that." Her name changes here and there but for some reason the name Willy seems to stick around. I have no idea where she has come up with this but it is pretty darn funny.

Went to LA to pick up Amy. A trip to IKEA and CPK for lunch.

I need this after today.
Lorelei had me cracking up on our walk today. She stopped, turned around and said, "Look at my body (her word for her bottom. Why you ask? I have no clue.) Shake your booty, shake your booty." And she proceeded to shake her booty. Then jumped around and kept walking.
Then she wanted me to watch her do 'cool tricks' and she would jump and almost fall. So funny.
Her new words are yup and nope.
As she was falling asleep, she reached up and rubbed my back and said, "I love you, mom." It was just what I needed after trying to get her to sleep.

Another relaxing morning. A walk to smart & final for ingredients to make breakfast burritos. Lorelei is so easy when it is just the two of us, such a change from a year ago.
We picked up Meemaw Barbara from the train station and went downtown for Chipotle and some shopping.

July 4th

Perfect beach day.
Lorelei played in the warm water creek that leads to the ocean in Cayucos.
Ice cream and lollipops.
Then yummy BBQ at Grandpa and MaryAnn's.
They got the carousel up and running. The girls loved it of course!

July 3rd

Lorelei and I hung out at home today.
She was looking at my moles and was asking me what they were. She said, "that is sooo strange." LOL.
She also found some shoes that her Aunt Kristi bought her that are too big and she asked, "are these for me?" I said, "yes, Aunt Kristi got them for you." Her response? "That's amazing! They are so preeety. Thanks Kristi." She had me laughing all day.

July 2nd

Tiffany, Hannah, Lo and I went to the pool. It was perfect, we went early and the pool all to ourselves. The girls were both so great and really enjoyed 'swimming'.
Barbies!!! ha ha, all of our old barbies that my mom kept came out this weekend and the girls totally enjoyed playing with them.

July 1st

June 30th

So, I skipped the month of June. We've been busy, and I've been lazy!
Lorelei got me a pink, sparkly hat and a bright orange cake for my birthday! We took Amy to the airport (Asia is her destination) and went to Disneyland. Shena and the kids (plus some!) met us there. We had a really great time. The following weekend we went down to Orange County again but this time with Meemaw Barbara and Nate. We went to Papa and Sandy's (TuTu) house and back to Disneyland. We love it there. We decided that Nate and Lorelei are going to smash pennies wherever they go and send each other pennies from their travels. The following weekend was Father's day so we just relaxed around the house. The following weekend was the flower festival. Lorelei loved the rides. Meemaw Barbara, Gee Gee, and Pops all came down that Saturday and we went to the hitching post for dinner (seriously, YUM!).Tara and her kiddo's were also down that weekend.  So yes, busy with a little laziness thrown in. I let myself skip a month, but I want to continue updating daily from here on out. Please hit me with inspiration.

My mom took Lorelei shopping for my birthday! She was so excited she picked out an outfit and a cake for me.

May 30th

An extra day off work!
A trip to Target with a stop at Starbucks. The girl said Lo reminds her of Suri Cruise. Haven't heard that in awhile, but still get it a lot. Both Suri and Lorelei remind me of Amy!

May 29th

It rained last night! It was so windy out today that we stayed inside almost all day.
Meemaw Barbara came down and played with us. We ate chips, salsa, and guacamole. So yummy. We played Wii Fit and Wii Dance. Then we went and had sushi.
Lorelei was so great in the restaurant and used chopsticks to eat the cabbage salad. She also chowed down on some edamame. She was super polite too. I love her to pieces.
We came home and Peepaw was cooking in the backyard and Lorelei went out to play with him. They did some sidewalk chalk-ing and cuddled up in front of the fire. She loves her grandparents. She is a lucky, lucky girl!!!

May 28th

Ahhhh, the start of a three day weekend. We spent the morning outside playing in the 'pool' which is a really cool blow-up pool.
We are trying potty training since she peed outside while she was naked. Cross our fingers.
A nice relaxing day playing outside while Meemaw and Peepaw worked in the backyard. Lorelei was so tired she fell asleep at 5:30.
We then ate dinner and watched Avatar. It was good.

Lorelei's new thing is sitting with my dad in his chair for dinner. It is super sweet and cute. I love watching them interact. Well, really, I love watching everyone in the family interact with Lorelei. It is just so sweet.
I've been slacking a little on the blog but I have been pretty tired lately. I love doing this and hope to get better and a little more focused. I know how much we will enjoy reading this later in life. And it truly makes me happy to write all my happy thoughts at the end of the night. It is making a big difference in my happiness.

Sleeping a lot.
Lorelei puts a pillow on the ground and stands on it and sings into her little microphone, like the pillow is a stage. She throws her arms in the air when the song is over and says, "nice job."
Lorelei also says bless you after someone sneezes. She will yell it from the other room. Seriously love her.

May 22nd

Another lazy day at home. Always a plus in my book. Started our morning by making frozen chocolate covered bananas, for later. Lorelei got to cut the banana's while I melted the chocolate then we covered them.
Lorelei was cracking me up all day with her silly sayings. Apparently, she thinks it is funny when her farts stink and I say so. A lot of other silly little moments got me today too. She is just so goofy.
It is only 6:30 and I feel like it is bed time...

May 21st

Painting my dresser with Lorelei. She is talking amazingly, and understanding so many things. It is getting to be so enjoyable to do things with her.
She starting playing a little to rough around nap time and I told her to get in her bed and she actually did and laid herself down and said, "Mommy, does this make you happy?" I said yes, and she fell asleep. Just like that.
Wow, once in a lifetime experience there.

May 20th

Lorelei cuddles. She fell asleep in my bed at 6 (didn't nap during the day), she fell out and climbed in hers. She slept another 30 minutes in there. Took her forever to fall asleep again but we got to lay in bed and cuddle.

I have been seriously slacking off here. Not that I haven't been smiling everyday but things are a little hectic and testy with this little two year old :)
She is funnier than ever though. She ate dinner in the chair with her P-paw. She loves him so much. It is so sweet to see.
This morning when she woke up this morning she said, "peoples broke my dream. And Luci took my toys away and then she didn't take my toys away. And I was sooo happy to see Luci again. And Hannah, and Hannah, and Hannah, and her. Hannah is my best friend in the whole wide world."

May 12th and 13th

Blogger was down all day yesterday and today. At the moment I am relaxing and enjoying a nice cup of tea while Lorelei watches 'the dinosaur movie' or The Land Before Time. Before hand she was telling me to sleep and then saying, "hellooooo" then wanted to watch the movie so it must be a scene from the movie. She is my little actress. It is crazy how much she remembers and how much of the inflections she gets right.
I finally got my invite to pinterest.com and I am so excited to start collecting all my little gems and ideas in one place! molosmiles!

Lorelei has TOO much energy. I took her across the street to play. We ran, we played, we slid down the slide.
She was still full of life when we got home! She tried giving me some of her energy. Arms stretched out making funny sounds. It didn't work. :)  Bed time...awwww.

Lots of laughs today.
Lo and I played outside on this hot day. We attempted to plant some tomatoes and sunflowers. And we played with bubbles. The bubbles lasted forever! They stuck on the grass. They were so strange!

May 3rd

Lorelei was cracking me up today! She wanted to go with me to the store but she had to say bye to all her friends first, all on her own doing. It was so sweet seeing her go to each one, say bye, and give them a hug. At the store she didn't want to get in the cart and I let her walk as long as she stayed close to me. She would see all the bright colors and toys and say, "mommy, look at this" and I would tell her, "we don't need that" Then Lorelei said, "We don't need that, nope, nope, nope." and keep walking. Love it.
Then I bought some Tapatio flavored doritos and I gave her one. Lo was taking small bites and I asked her if they were spicy, and she said "No, they are yummy." Later, I tried to give one to my brother and she said "No, they are spicy to Jeffrey."

After that, she put on my shoes and walked down the hall saying, "Fee Fi Fo Fum." Like the giant. Ahhh, I love her.

April 28th - May 2nd

I slacked off a little. I will try to post pictures later.
We got to see a lot of family this weekend. It is always nice!
Zoo with Tiffany and Hannah on Saturday morning, then Vanessa's baby shower Saturday afternoon. Tacos for dinner with Meemaw. A relaxing Sunday morning at Novo for a delicious breakfast. Coffee, eclairs, chilequiles, crab benedict, and bacon for Lo. So delish. A walk around downtown SLO and then Hannah came over to play. Monday, back to our regular routine.

April 27th

I told Lo I was going to our room to watch American Idol and she could stay with Meemaw and Pampa to finish the movie they started. I said I will come back or she could meet me in the room. I have always talked to her like this and it just hit me that she is fully understanding all of it. I love it. She is so smart!

April 26th

Starting to plan/think about a June trip to LA with Amy and another one with Barb and Nate.

April 25th

I was writing my 'to do' and 'to buy' lists and Lorelei wanted to write hers so she took the pen and paper and started scribbling. I said, play with friends, share, and be good helper. She said 'uh-huh' after each one then added her own 'to-buy' list: chocolate milk and pretzels. I don't know where she comes up with this stuff. These are not things she eats/drinks a lot of. It is usually bananas and apple juice around here.

April 24th

Lots to smile about today. It's Easter.
We had a delicious breakfast:

Then we went out for an egg hunt. Lorelei was having lots of fun. She was practically throwing the eggs in her basket and cracking all the hard boiled eggs. I went straight inside and made egg salad sandwiches. I gave Lorelei the plastic eggs and she 'hid' them and found them while I made lunch.

April 23rd

Ended up being a lazy day for us. Lorelei took a 4 hour nap. Yes, seriously.

Lazy Sunday. We went to the grocery store and besides that we stayed home and laid around! Lorelei didn't nap today so she fell asleep at 6:30. I was able to enjoy a nice BBQ dinner outside next to the fire.

Today was perfect. Perfect weather. A trip to the zoo. My favorite part was feeding the sheep and goats. Lorelei was a little afraid so she would drop hers through the fence and say, "get it sheep" and when they would eat the food she would say, "good job" It was so cute.

I am in love! With sunshine. I seriously, walked outside with a huge smile on my face because it was sunny and 60 degrees this morning on my way to work. Right now I am about to take a nap with my window wide open. It feels amazing...70 something degrees. Awwwww....I wish I could take a picture of how I felt right now. Lorelei wanted to be a princess today. The only way I can get her to do her hair is to say she will have princess hair. I did her hair in a little braid and ponytail, then she looked down at her pj's and said, "Not like a princess" with a sad face. So we put on her princess dress and she was as happy as could be!
It is St. Patrick's Day! We had corned beef and cabbage for dinner. I asked Lorelei if she wanted to share my plate and she said, "No, Pampa's" And she made him go back three times for more corned beef. She loves it! Yummy.

Being lazy.
Riley's birthday party. Lorelei had fun and got to play on the playground. She is a little dare devil by the way.
She slept on the way home and didn't want to get out of the car and said, "Sleep in the car car, just a second."

March 12th

Tiffany and Hannah came over to play. The girls were getting along great! Such a relief.
We then went to Robert Hall Winery for a St. Patrick's day dinner for Barb and Judy's church.
Lorelei ran around outside and looked at the waterfalls all over. She was really well behaved and LOVED the corned beef. She was a little ham too.

March 7th

Today was simple. Just an any day kind of day.
We shared oatmeal and Lorelei kept taking big spoonfuls of mine and finally said, "I'll dump yours" and dumped the rest of mine into her bowl!

Lorelei is just hilarious. She says the silliest things. I'm a little dazed and confused after our busy weekend at disneyland, swimming, and driving!
Tower of Terror, California Screamin', Autopia, BBQ, Buzz Astro Blaster, Toy Story Midway Mania today.
We love Disneyland!!!!

A lot to be happy about today!

Fun day!
Went to Shena's graduation party. Hayley came too, all the kids were there. So good to see everyone.
Before we left Lorelei and I were both really tired and lazy.  I asked her if she wanted to go to a party and she said, "yeah, I want cake." I told her I didn't think there would be cake at the party. She looked at me totally confused and said, "everyone likes cake."
She is so funny....There wasn't any cake.

I just simply LOVE the way frosting looks on a cupcake, don't know what it is but it is beautiful.
Looking at her Savannah pics, I miss that amazing city. If you can plan a trip there DO IT.

Lorelei's voice. I wish I could record her all day, everyday. I just love the way her voice sounds, even simple words like 'far away' I can listen to over and over, and good thing too, because she repeats every word, over and over.
When I picked her up, she was so incredibly happy and said I love you and gave me lots of hugs and kisses. There couldn't have been a happier mommy in the world!!!
I love her so much. She is a bright spot in my world.

Talking to Lorelei on the phone(she is in SF with Meemaw Barbara and GeeGee), she said, I Love You, without being prompted. AWWWWWW :) :)
